A Few Helpful Links
I have been asked if there are any websites I would recommend to help my students learn more. Here are a few of my favorites:
For learning letter sounds and basic phonics:
If you have run out of books to read:
To create fun books, or handwriting pages for your child to practice on
Story Train
Today we read the story Little Toot in class. We drew pictures of what happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story to help us remember the sequence of the story. For homework tonight pick out one of your favorite stories, and draw the beginning, middle and end on this train template https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By7o0ewOrn7uQVQwLWxPOE40c28/view?usp=sharing
Word Train
Just like the train has a beginning middle and end so does a word. Use the letters on the three kinds of train parts to build words and read them. Some of them will be silly nonsense words that don't mean anything, but they are still fun to read. Here is the link to the word train parts https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By7o0ewOrn7ueFhZbkt5NU11ZTg/view?usp=sharing
How are Trains and Cars the Same or Different?
In class we have been using Venn diagrams to compare things. For homework tonight use the Venn diagram at this link https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By7o0ewOrn7uQ2paVVMzVEluOWM/view?usp=sharing to compare cars and trains. Mom or Dad can write the words as long as the student comes up with what to write.
Shapes on a Train
This week in class we have been learning about shapes. For homework to see if you remember your shapes, please color the picture at this link https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By7o0ewOrn7uTl9WelB4NGFmMmc/view?usp=sharing . Follow the instructions carefully to color the train.
Welcome To Mrs. Davidson's Kindergarten Class
Welcome to kindergarten! This year we will be studying things that go. Throughout the year we will study trains, cars, planes and boats. To start off our exploration of trains we visited Union Station in Ogden. We got to explore several kinds of trains, and see how they work, and what they are used for. We also learned a little about the history of trains, It was a great way to start off our exploration, and get to know each other.
